Termination Reports and 2016/2018 Filing
Legislators who were automatically re-elected to office after the June qualifying period now have until September 18th (90 days) to submit their termination reports. Campaign finance laws allow for several methods of expending surplus dollars, including a new law enabling incumbents to transfer up to $20,000 in the campaign account for re-election to the same office. Look for many legislators to file for 2016 and 2018 election cycles early, in order to transfer those funds under the new law.
