Termination Reports and 2016/2018 Filing
Legislators who were automatically re-elected to office after the June qualifying period now have until September 18^th (90 days) to submit their termination reports. Campaign finance laws allow for several methods of expending surplus dollars, including a new law enabling incumbents to transfer up to $20,000 in the campaign account for re-election to the same office. Look for many legislators to file for 2016 and 2018 election cycles early, in order to transfer those funds under the new law.
